I love keeping homemade spice mixes in my pantry, because it helps cut down on the sheer number of bottles and Costco bulk containers I have to carry back and forth every time I cook some of our favorite meals. The three I constantly have around are my fajita seasoning, Cajun seasoning, and this special Italian seasoning blend, all of which can be used in a variety of dishes. I use this particular spice mix the most when roasting potatoes, cooking shrimp or whitefish, and making pizza, but the possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
This recipe makes about 1/4 cup seasoning.
Ingredients:
- 3 tsp basil
- 3 tsp parsley
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp rosemary
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tsp minced onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
Directions:
- Add spices to a small jar or other lidded container and shake to combine.
I’ve never had a problem with this going stale, but then again it never sits around in my pantry long enough to get the chance! As long as you keep it in a sealed container somewhere dry, it should keep for several months. Enjoy!
